Selection from the Cantilever Tales

Price: $95.00

Humorous text from MAD Magazine, a parody on the Prologue to the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer. The text is written in a traditional manner after the hand of Chaucer, a late 14-15th c. English secretary hand, notable for the large minuscule "a" and pronounced angular looped ascenders and descenders. Gothic Cursive and Bastard Secretary have similar forms as well. The drawing of the archer was inspired by a woodcut of the Clerk in one of the versions of the Canterbury Tales.
